Texas to Panama in Motorhome

Hi there!
We are planning to travel South America for about a year. We are taking our motorhome, towing a Montero behind it and following with up to two more vehicles.
We have been planning and research for many months and still have so many unanswered questions. My big question right now is how much hassel is the vehicles going to be? Does anyone know the current border cost for bring vehicles in? We will be doing the permanent tourist for awhile while we check everything out down there.
I read how several have sold vehicles down there. How much of a nightmare was this???
That is it for now, I will have a ton of questions as this goes along.

welcome to the site! Sounds like a great trip.
Selling our truck was not a problem, but it was very underhanded in Costa Rica. I recommend to just keep asking around. Your main enemy is time, as most people aren't just sitting around waiting to buy a car. So you may have to spend more time in a place, or return to a place, to finalize it.
I don't know the current border costs, but they're not too terrible.
