Choice of car?

Hey guys,

I want to drive from New York City to Argentina to Brazil. I have a BMW X5 SUV. Would this be incredibly stupid to drive this through central and south america? its not so flashy in the states, but in central and south america i thought it would draw too much unwanted attention. however i thought it would be great for the andes mountains. I dont have the extra funds to buy a "junker car" and ditch it in south america! thanks for your suggestions
