Sleeping in the car isn't always the best choice, b/c the safe places are going to be loud places.

There are truck stops of sorts... Places where trucks congregate around crossroads, toll booths, etc that would probably be fine. Gas stations that are open all night would be good choices.

Basically, you'd like to be around people. Pulling off in the middle of nowhere probably isn't a great idea.

Its also probably worth asking at most places if you can just give them a few bucks to park in their lot. You'll probably want to spring for a room with safe parking in a big city.

I think the bettre solution is to rent a room for night stay t will give you more comfort and safe stay for sleep......

Bull! :p Except in cities you don't have to do that very often - most places are actually safer than their reputation in the US!!!
We have traveled through Central America last year, this year we are in South America. Our camping lists to download (save and use - a single html file for your laptop):

http://www.dare2go.com/campingSA.html (not complete - still on the road)

In general: restaurants and balnearios (privately owned swimming pools) are always good options to stay the night if you're like us and hate to sleep (or not - as case might be) at gas stations...

If you have further questions post them at our new forum: http://forum.dare2go.com/

Sleep in church parking lots, and pull over and talk to them before it gets too dark.
