Hi,
Planning a trip - starting in San Jose,Costa Rica and driving back to Denver.
Can you tell me how long of a trip this will be and how much money i will need to bring for Gas, borders, food etc.... I will be travelling with another person. We really dont plan on stopping and sightseeing so much..we want to do the drive to bring a car back to the states.
Thanks
Ali

You could do it in 10 days or so if you are in a hurry. Driving at night is tough because of all the topes and livestock wandering on the roads.

Gas is the big expense(Costa Rica has been the most expensive gas for me on this trip), followed by toll roads in mexico if you choose to take them(and you will want to if you are in a hurry). Food can be as cheap as you want to make it, same with places to stay if you don't have much stuff in your car that you are worried about. Border crossing fees aren't too expensive as long as your Spanish is good, but be careful of helpers trying to charge you lots of bogus fees.

Make sure you have your original vehicle title.

If you are only driving it because you are looking to get your car back then you might want to look into having it shipped. It might be a little more expensive but it might well be worth it. After you add in Gas, hotel, food, etc. there might not be that big of a gap in the pricing.
