Driving Central America & South America.
traveling to Guatemala
I am wanting to drive to Guatemala City in late March or Early April. Any one wanting to travel or piggy back? I like adventure, but this is scary. I know nothing of route to take. I live in Nebraska and will go down through Texas I presume. Any help appreciated. I am 64, retired, and honest as can be , so let's get to know each other.

I wonder why you wish to drive to Guate CITY?
I wonder why you wish to drive to Guate CITY? I lived in Guate City late 1980s, early 1990s with a vehicle, finally left in 1993, the traffic was getting heavy then, now a nightmare monday to friday all day saturday early am to afternoon. Guate CITY known as 'la capital' metro area population 4.5 million can be quite dangerous if you do not know your way around, parking terrible, many zones are red lined and you get teh boot on after half an hour, parking lots expensive and car theft and jacking common. I now reside in another part of Central America, sold my vehicle after 15 years of Tropical driving, no more adventures for me, I am content. Anyhow, if you do make it to El Salvador, 5 hours SE from Guatemala City by Auto or First Class Bus (the way to go in C.A.) do contact me. Nearby Antigua in Guatemala is expensive and not "Vehicle friendly" you can easily get towed here. Best place with a vehicle is Lake Atitlan click on www.atitlan.com/ and www.xelapages.com/ saludos buena suerte....Don Lee, Ex Pat & Survivor 24 years in Mexico & C.A.
